Spire Arts is a vocational program of the Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities Services (MCBDDS) that provides support for individuals wishing to pursue an art career. Adults who are receiving services from MCBDDS can participate in this unique program. We can accommodate individuals attending Jergens, Kuntz, Calumet, Liberty and Northview, as well as those from Employment Services. In addition to the vocational art program, the county offers art therapy for adults receiving services from the board in each building.
Spire Arts offers:
- Studio space to create and store art
- A positive, supportive environment
- Art supplies and materials
- Staff support
- Internet access and technology tools
- Art history exploration
- Avenues to display artwork to the community
- Opportunities to sell artwork
- Opportunities to collaborate with other artists and the community
- Outings related to becoming a professional artist
Spire Arts currently has a studio located at 1507 Kuntz Road in Dayton. Artists can attend Monday through Friday, during the a.m. or p.m. shifts. During their time in the studio, staff support each individual’s desire to create and sell art.
The program provides opportunities to work in a variety of media including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, jewelry, fiber arts, and photography. An individual’s talent and passion is the driving force behind the studio programming. Once pieces are finished, staff will provide assistance in pricing and selling their work.
