Janice Dorsey Allen, former MCBDDS Board member and Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Trotwood-Madison City School District, has been named a 2018 Woman of Influence honoree by the YWCA.
In her role with the Trotwood-Madison City School District, Allen is responsible for a $40 million budget that provides resources to 3,300 students and more than 350 employees. She began her career as a program analyst for the NCR Corporation, and after receiving a National Science Foundation scholarship to study electrical engineering at the University of Dayton, she took a job with the Dayton Power & Light Company as a microwave engineer, responsible for the company's telecommunications. From there, she held a series of positions with Dayton Public Schools, the last of which was assistant treasurer.
Allen was one of 40 women nationwide who was selected to participate in the University of Dayton's re-entry engineering program for women with math and science degrees.
