People with developmental disabilities who want more freedom or need more transportation options now have another resource at their disposal, thanks to a collaboration between the Greater Dayton RTA, private providers and the Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities Services.RTA Connect Coordination offers people with developmental disabilities access to flexible, door-to-door community transportation when they need it. Services are delivered by private, contracted DODD-certified providers. RTA coordinates the services, and determines which provider will pick folks up. The provider then comes to the individual’s door at the time they requested. The service allows individuals to schedule trips on their own, and can take them to:- Work- Day programs- Medical appointments- Grocery stores- Shopping- The movies- Homes of friends and family members- Meetings- Out to dinner- Almost anywhere in Montgomery, Greene and Preble countiesHow It WorksServices are paid for by waiver, based on those authorized in a person’s Individual Service Plan and available budget. Eligible riders can also take a staff person or family member with them if they require help, and they will not be charged.Once enrolled in the program, individuals can schedule rides with a minimum of 72 hours’ advance notice. When people begin booking trips, they will receive a confirmation call the day before the event.Individuals interested in signing up for RTA Connect Coordination should contact their Service and Support Administrator to see if they are eligible for the service.
