    Join the Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities Services as it celebrates the lives, stories and contributions of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through a special exhibit at the Dayton Metro Library Vandalia Branch. LEARN how people with intellectual and developmental disabilities contribute to our community through employment, volunteerism and their talents. SEE amazing works created by artists with disabilities. UNDERSTAND how the use of language affects how people with disabilities are perceived. FAMILIARIZE yourself with the services offered by the County Board and other organizations that help people with developmental disabilities live productive and rewarding lives. TAP INTO the library's collection of materials created by--and about--people with disabilities.

  2. Coping with Grief Support Group for Individuals

    August 16, 2018, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Southview Center

    The Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities Services' Mental Health Supports and Services Program will host a Coping with Grief Group every Thursday at Southview Center, 25 Thorpe Dr., Dayton, 45429 in Room 61. This is an ongoing program available to any individual receiving services who has experienced grief and loss, such as an injury or disability, loss of a loved one or pet, job loss, or change or transition.   3. Guardianship and Alternatives Transition Booster Session

    August 16, 2018, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Medical Office Building of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, 5th floor, Conference Room 201/202

    Parents, caregivers and professionals working with youth and young adults with developmental disabilities and/or complex medical needs are invited to attend this free program about about guardianship and other alternatives for youth and young adults with developmental disabilities. Participants will: Learn what Guardianship is, what other options exist, and why it is important to think carefully about this decision; develop a better understanding of the legal considerations and process; see examples of county probate court forms and applications; become more prepared and empowered with resources to make informed decisions about your loved one’s life.
