The SALT (School-to-Adult Life Transition Series) is a free monthly series developed to offer valuable information, resources and guidance to help prepare families of children and students with developmental disabilities for the transition to adult life. Separate programs are offered at the same time for both parents and teens.
In January, the Parent program will address the first of two sessions on Estate Planning: Understanding Guardianship and the Alternatives, while the SALT-TEENS program for students will tackle "How Can I Advocate for Myself?" No RSVPs are required.
This program is sponsored by the Employment First Local Leaders collaboration of Montgomery, Greene and Warren counties.

The Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities Services sponsors a group known as the Parents & Advocates Advisory Council (PAAC), where parents, family members, guardians, and advocates of people with developmental disabilities AND providers of services meet and discuss issues with MCBDDS leadership. Meetings are are held at a variety of venues, and may be canceled due to inclement weather or other conflicts.
