Accessible restrooms are essential for inclusion. They transform the lives of people with disabilities, people with complex medical needs, and the elderly by providing a safe, hygienic, and dignified space to address their restroom needs. Without these tables, people cannot go out in the community and participate in activities.
In 2023, our agency secured a grant that enabled it to purchase and outfit a trailer that can serve as a Mobile Accessible Restroom (MAR) for events and activities. Montgomery County, Ohio, organizations can request the Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities Services’ Mobile Accessible Restroom on a first-come, first-served basis for Montgomery County events for a charge of $150.00 per day.
Features
The Mobile Accessible Restroom Trailer is a 24-foot-wide trailer that can be delivered to events. It lowers flat to the ground and has a ramp that allows people in wheelchairs to enter. It includes a wall-mounted, height-adjustable universal changing table; a ceiling track lift system that spans the entire length of the trailer; a sink; a toilet; a heating and cooling system; power; and running water.
Requirements for Use (subject to change)
- A 30-day advance notification is required for use.
- Users must provide a Certificate of General Liability Insurance, naming MCBDDS as Additional Insured.
- Users must designate a Person of Contact who will be responsible to check on the trailer regularly and maintain it for proper use throughout the event.
